Fetch README April, 1996 ======== Overview ======== Fetch 3.0.1 is a powerful Macintosh interface to the File Transfer Protocol, or FTP. Version 3.0.1 comes with a host of ÒBookmarksÓ - shortcuts to several popular FTP servers. For instructions on using this program, refer to the extensive on-line help provided. StuffIt Expander 3.5.2 decodes nearly every method of file compression available for the Macintosh, including Compact Pro, StuffIt and BinHex. Use it alone or in conjunction with Fetch to unpack files obtained from FTP servers. ============ Requirements ============ Fetch 3.0.1 runs on all Macintosh computers (and in native mode on Power Macintosh computers), should be run under System 6 or better, and requires 469K (736K on PowerPC computers) of free RAM. It also requires MacTCP (available separately) or Open Transport. StuffIt Expander runs on any Macintosh using System 6 or better (System 7 provides more flexibility), and requires 384K of free RAM (in addition to that required by Fetch, if the two are running simultaneously). The StuffIt Expander installer is located in the "Compression" folder on PUBLIC_MAC. ================================================================== Installing the Fetch Software ================================================================== The instructions in this section explain how to install the software you need to use Fetch.
